Category: QoS and Traffic Management

Description: Manages Quanta Computer switch iSCSI-aware QoS configuration for storage traffic prioritization and flow detection.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is QOS-ISCSI-MIB?

QOS-ISCSI-MIB is a Quanta Computer switch MIB for iSCSI-aware Quality of Service, part of a QoS Flex package that lets the switch automatically detect and prioritize iSCSI storage traffic. It exposes global enable/timeout settings for iSCSI flow acceleration, the QoS marking mechanism to apply (VLAN priority/CoS or DSCP remarking), and a target-configuration table identifying specific iSCSI targets by TCP port, IP address, and name for targeted acceleration. For monitoring, an administrator checks whether iSCSI flow acceleration is enabled and correctly aging out stale flows (agentIscsiFlowAccelerationAgingTimeOut), and verifies the configured target table matches the actual storage targets in use, since a missing or stale target entry means that traffic won't receive the intended QoS treatment. It depends on the switch's underlying QoS/CoS and DSCP marking infrastructure to actually apply the prioritization this module configures. It is deployed on Quanta data-center switches connecting servers to iSCSI SAN storage, where storage traffic must be prioritized over general LAN traffic to avoid latency-sensitive I/O degradation. Engineers can download the QOS-ISCSI-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in QOS-ISCSI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Quanta Computer data-center switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check agentIscsiFlowAccelerationEnable and agentIscsiFlowAccelerationQosType to confirm iSCSI acceleration is active and whether it remarks traffic using CoS (agentIscsiFlowAccelerationQosVptValue) or DSCP (agentIscsiFlowAccelerationQosDscpValue). Reviewing agentIscsiFlowAccelerationTargetConfigTable entries, keyed by agentIscsiFlowAccelerationTargetConfigAddr and agentIscsiFlowAccelerationTargetConfigTcpPort, confirms the switch recognizes the correct iSCSI target IP and port; a missing entry for an active storage target would explain unexpectedly poor storage I/O performance during congestion.

What Can Be Monitored

  • iSCSI flow acceleration enable status
  • flow aging timeout
  • QoS marking type (CoS/DSCP)
  • configured iSCSI target IP/port/name
  • CoS enable status
