qbDot3ConfigEncapsType

Module: QB-ETHERNET-MIB

OID (symbolic): QB-ETHERNET-MIB::qbDot3ConfigEncapsType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4323.2.5.1.2.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: QbAtmAal5EncapsType

Access: read-write

Description: The type of data encapsulation used over the AAL5 SSCS layer. The definitions reference RFC 1483 Multiprotocol Encapsulation over ATM AAL5 and to the ATM Forum LAN Emulation specification.

What is qbDot3ConfigEncapsType?

This read-write QbAtmAal5EncapsType value selects the data encapsulation used over the AAL5 SSCS layer, referencing RFC 1483 multiprotocol encapsulation over ATM AAL5 and the ATM Forum LAN Emulation specification, and defaults to qbRoutedEncapsNoHdrNoFcs. An admin sets this to match the encapsulation expected by the ATM carrier or peer equipment terminating the AAL5 circuit, since a mismatch prevents the Ethernet-over-ATM bridge from interoperating. For example, changing qbDot3ConfigEncapsType away from the routed no-header/no-FCS default would be needed if the far-end ATM equipment expects LLC/SNAP encapsulated frames per RFC 1483.
