Category: Proxy and Caching

Description: Manages proxy server session counts, active connections, request rates, and protocol-level statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ProxyServer-MIB?

ProxyServer-MIB is a private proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 311, built on InternetServer-MIB) reporting Web Proxy service performance and cache-hit statistics for an internet-server appliance. Its objects cover total internet/client/SSL-client bytes sent/received, current/total/max user counts, per-protocol (FTP/Gopher/HTTP) request counts, total/successful/failed request counts, cache-fetch and internet-fetch counts, cache hit ratio (overall and running), sites-denied/granted counts, and DNS-cache entry count. As a performance MIB it lets an administrator watch proxy cache-hit efficiency and request success/failure rates on this internet-server appliance's Web Proxy service. It is deployed on internet-server appliances (enterprise OID 311 vendor). Engineers can download the ProxyServer-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ProxyServer-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Microsoft Internet Information Server/Proxy Server, Windows NT era (Web Proxy service statistics)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator monitors cacheHitRatio and totalFailRequests to gauge Web Proxy cache efficiency and error rate on this internet-server appliance.
