pwMplsOutboundTunnelTypeInUse

Module: PW-MPLS-STD-MIB

OID (symbolic): PW-MPLS-STD-MIB::pwMplsOutboundTunnelTypeInUse

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.181.1.2.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This object indicates the current tunnel that is carrying the PW traffic. The value of notYetKnown(1) should be used if the agent is currently unable to determine which tunnel or interface is carrying the PW, for example, because both tunnels are in operational status down.

What is pwMplsOutboundTunnelTypeInUse?

This value reports which tunnel type is currently actually carrying this pseudowire's traffic: not yet known, mplsTe, mplsNonTe, or pwOnly; notYetKnown is used when the agent can't currently determine which tunnel or interface is active, for example if both configured tunnels are operationally down. Admins read it to confirm which of possibly several configured outer-tunnel options is actually being used right now for a pseudowire that could ride more than one. Seeing pwMplsOutboundTunnelTypeInUse as notYetKnown(1) on a pseudowire with both a TE and non-TE tunnel configured tells the admin both candidate outer tunnels are currently down.
