pwVcMplsOutboundTunnelTypeInUse

Module: PW-MPLS-DRAFT06-MIB

OID (symbolic): PW-MPLS-DRAFT06-MIB::pwVcMplsOutboundTunnelTypeInUse

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.99999.53.0.1.2.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This object indicates the current tunnel that is carrying the PW traffic. The value of notYetKnown(1) should be used if the agent is currently unable to determine which tunnel or interface is carrying the PW, for example because both tunnels are in operational status down.

What is pwVcMplsOutboundTunnelTypeInUse?

This read-only enumerated object (notYetKnown/mplsTe/mplsNonTe/vcOnly) reports which outer tunnel type is actually carrying the PW's traffic right now, distinct from which types are merely configured. An admin monitors this to determine PW forwarding status in real time, particularly to detect when the agent cannot yet determine an active path (notYetKnown), such as when both candidate tunnels are operationally down. For example, this reporting notYetKnown(1) alongside a PW that should be forwarding traffic signals both its TE and non-TE outer tunnels are currently down.
