pwVcMplsExpBitsMode
Module: PW-MPLS-DRAFT06-MIB
OID (symbolic): PW-MPLS-DRAFT06-MIB::pwVcMplsExpBitsMode
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.99999.53.0.1.1.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: Set by the operator to indicate the way the PW shim label EXP bits are to be determined. The value of outerTunnel(1) is used where there is an outer tunnel - pwVcMplsMplsType is mplsTe(0) or mplsNonTe(1). Note that in this case there is no need to mark the PW label with the EXP bits since the PW label is not visible to the intermediate nodes. If there is no outer tunnel, specifiedValue(2) indicates that the value is specified by pwVcMplsExpBits, and
serviceDependant(3) indicates that the EXP bits are setup based on a rule specified in the emulated service specific tables, for example when the EXP bits are a function of 802.1p marking for Ethernet emulated service.
What is pwVcMplsExpBitsMode?
This read-write enumerated object, set by the operator, controls how the MPLS EXP bits on the PW shim label are determined: outerTunnel(1) when an outer tunnel exists (so PW-label EXP marking isn't needed), specifiedValue(2) to use the fixed value in pwVcMplsExpBits, or serviceDependant(3) to derive it from service-specific rules like 802.1p mapping. An admin picks specifiedValue(2) when they need explicit, predictable QoS marking on a PW without an outer tunnel. For example, an Ethernet PW carrying voice traffic might use serviceDependant(3) so EXP bits track the 802.1p priority of each frame.
