What Is PRVT-CES-MIB?

PRVT-CES-MIB is a BATM Advanced Communications enterprise MIB for Circuit Emulation Service (CES), managing TDM pseudowire circuits carried over a packet network, extending configuration for DS1 modules beyond what the standard DS1-MIB covers. It exposes per-port configuration (E1 impedance, T1 gain limit, line type, long cable length compensation), operational and administrative controls (port shutdown, service clock source), and status/statistics objects including port operational status and clearable port statistics counters. This is a hardware/service status monitoring MIB for TDM circuit emulation - prvtCESPortOperStatus reveals whether a DS1/E1 port carrying emulated TDM traffic is up or down, prvtCESServiceClock shows the clock recovery source (critical for jitter-free TDM playback), and prvtCESUnappTable tracks unassigned/unapplied circuit configuration, together giving visibility into pseudowire circuit health. It explicitly extends and complements the standard DS1-MIB, indicating a direct dependency on that IETF standard for base DS1 interface objects. Monitoring Examples

An admin polls prvtCESDsx1ExtTable/prvtCESDsx1ExtEntry to check prvtCESPortOperStatus for a T1 circuit, and if it is down, checks prvtCESPortLineType and prvtCEST1LongCableLength for a line-configuration mismatch versus the actual cable run. prvtCESServiceClock is checked to confirm the port is using the correct clock source (e.g., recovered vs. internal), since a mismatched clock source causes slips/jitter in the emulated TDM stream. prvtCESClearPortStatistics is invoked after fixing an issue to reset counters for a clean baseline going forward.
