Description: Provides legacy router management objects for PRA-branded access router platforms covering interface and routing configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PRAROUTERMIB?
PRAROUTERMIB is a legacy private MIB for PRA-branded access routers (ISDN Primary Rate Access equipment), providing router/interface configuration and B-channel usage/line-count statistics typical of ISDN PRI-based WAN access gear. It exposes objects covering IP addressing per interface, AS/routing identifiers, and ISDN B-channel utilization counters (engaged vs. free channels, per-PSPDN line counts). Its monitoring value centers on interface/line status and capacity: operators can check how many B-channels are currently engaged versus free to gauge ISDN trunk utilization and detect capacity exhaustion, alongside basic device software version info (praVersion). Being an older, vendor-specific legacy MIB, it does not show an explicit dependency on newer standard MIBs beyond basic SNMP conventions. It would have been deployed on legacy ISDN PRA access routers used for WAN/dial backup connectivity, a technology now largely superseded. Engineers can download the PRAROUTERMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRAROUTERMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- legacy PRA (ISDN Primary Rate Access) branded access router
Monitoring Examples
Polling numberOfEngagedBchan and numberOfFreeBchan reveals how many of the router's ISDN B-channels are currently in use versus available, which would flag capacity exhaustion if engaged channels approach the total. The asIpTable (asIpEntry, asIpAddr, asNumber) tracks IP addressing associated with router interfaces, and praVersion reports the device's software/firmware version for inventory purposes.
What Can Be Monitored
- engaged vs. free B-channels
- per-line/PSPDN channel counts
- interface IP address assignment
- router software version
