PEA-SMI

Defines the enterprise SMI root OID and module registration hierarchy for Ericsson Danmark A/S IP DSLAM MIBs.

PEA-SMI is not a data-bearing MIB but the enterprise Structure-of-Management-Information (SMI) module for Ericsson Danmark A/S (formerly Tellabs/PEA), which belongs to the DSL access networking space. It simply defines the enterprise root OID and the registration hierarchy under which all other Ericsson Danmark IP DSLAM MIB modules assign their object identifiers. As such it exposes no operational counters, hardware status, or fault data itself -- its role is purely structural, enabling every sibling MIB in the family (interface, alarm, and configuration MIBs) to be organized and looked up consistently. Because every other Ericsson Danmark DSLAM MIB imports OIDs from this module, it is a foundational dependency for the entire vendor MIB set rather than an independent monitoring source. It is deployed only as a supporting registration file loaded alongside the functional MIBs when managing Ericsson/PEA IP DSLAM equipment. Anyone setting up a new NMS profile for Ericsson/PEA DSLAM gear typically needs a PEA-SMI download before compiling any sibling module, since without it those modules will fail to resolve their enterprise OIDs.

A management station's MIB compiler loads PEA-SMI first so that OIDs referenced by sibling modules (e.g. alarm, interface, or system MIBs in the same product family) resolve correctly under the vendor's enterprise branch. There are no pollable objects of direct monitoring interest in this module; instead, an admin would use it indirectly whenever any Ericsson Danmark DSLAM MIB object's OID needs to be decoded or cross-referenced against the enterprise tree. Failure to load this MIB typically manifests as "unknown object" errors in an NMS when browsing other PEA-family MIBs.
