Description: Defines product registration OIDs for the Cisco P-Cube Service Control Engine (SCE) DPI subscriber management platform.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PCUBE-PRODUCTS-MIB?
This is a Cisco-family MIB, originally from P-Cube and later acquired by Cisco, that defines the product registration object identifiers for the Service Control Engine (SCE) deep packet inspection and subscriber management platform. It does not expose operational monitoring data itself; instead it enumerates the specific hardware model identifiers, such as sce100, sce1000, and sce2000, that a device returns as its sysObjectID value, letting management systems identify exactly which SCE hardware model they are talking to. Its main monitoring relevance is indirect: by identifying the exact product model via sysObjectID, an NMS can select the correct companion MIBs and thresholds for that specific SCE platform's CPU, memory, subscriber session, and traffic-shaping data. It is explicitly a supporting/identity module for the broader PCUBE-SC family of MIBs that expose the actual operational, performance, and fault data for SCE devices. It is typically deployed in service-provider networks running Cisco/P-Cube SCE platforms for subscriber-aware traffic management and DPI, making the PCUBE-PRODUCTS-MIB reference essential for identifying exactly which SCE hardware model is in use.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PCUBE-PRODUCTS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco/P-Cube Service Control Engine (SCE) DPI platform (SCE 100, 1000, 2000 models)
Monitoring Examples
A network management system would read the device's sysObjectID and match it against enumerated values such as sce1000 or sce2000 defined in PCUBE-PRODUCTS-MIB to determine the exact hardware model in use. This model identification then drives which companion PCUBE MIBs and polling templates, for CPU, session counts, and traffic statistics, the NMS applies. A mismatch between the expected and actual sysObjectID value could reveal that a device was replaced with a different SCE model during a hardware refresh, requiring re-validation of monitoring templates, since this module itself carries no live counters, only static identity OIDs.
What Can Be Monitored
- device model identification via sysObjectID
- hardware platform type (SCE100/1000/2000)
