Description: Provides copied standard MIB definitions used as a base for PacketFront broadband CPE device management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PACKETFRONT-COPY-MIB?
PACKETFRONT-COPY-MIB is a vendor MIB from PacketFront Networks, a maker of broadband access/CPE aggregation equipment (ASR/DBAS platforms) for service providers, modeling file-copy operations on the device. It exposes a control table for initiating and tracking copy jobs, including source, destination, current state, and completion/error status. In monitoring terms it is used to track software/configuration deployment status rather than hardware sensors -- specifically whether a firmware or config file copy operation is in progress, stalled, completed, or has failed. It does not declare a formal dependency on other IETF MIBs but conceptually parallels the generic copy-control pattern used in other vendors' file-transfer MIBs. It is typically deployed on PacketFront broadband access routers/CPE aggregation devices where automated firmware or configuration pushes need to be tracked via SNMP. Engineers can download the PACKETFRONT-COPY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PACKETFRONT-COPY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- PacketFront broadband access router/ASR
- PacketFront CPE/DBAS platform
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll pfCopyTable/pfCopyEntry rows via pfCopyIndex to check pfCopyStatus and pfCopyNextState of an active job, alerting if pfCopyStatus indicates failure or pfCopyError is non-zero. Comparing pfCopySource and pfCopyDestination confirms which firmware image or config file is being transferred to/from the device. A copy job stuck in an intermediate pfCopyNextState longer than expected signals a stalled software or configuration upgrade.
What Can Be Monitored
- file copy operation status
- copy source and destination
- copy error code
- copy job next state
