What Is OPTIX-OID-MIB?
OPTIX-OID-MIB is a Huawei registration MIB that defines the OID hierarchy for the OptiX family of SDH/SONET and optical transport platform MIB modules. Like other OID/registration modules, it does not expose operational data itself; it only establishes the naming tree under which Huawei's OptiX-specific MIBs (covering equipment, alarms, performance, and configuration) attach their managed objects. Network engineers browsing the OPTIX-OID-MIB OID tree in a MIB compiler can quickly see where each OptiX equipment, alarm, or performance module's objects are registered, even without loading every downstream MIB. It therefore carries no direct hardware or software status objects such as uptime, temperature, or alarm counters — those are defined in the companion OptiX product MIBs rooted under this tree. Its dependency is on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise-numbering mechanism used to allocate Huawei's private OID branch for the OptiX line. It would be loaded as a prerequisite whenever managing Huawei OptiX SDH/SONET/optical transport network elements via SNMP.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OPTIX-OID-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei OptiX SDH/SONET/OTN optical transport family (shared OID registration root)
Monitoring Examples
OPTIX-OID-MIB defines only OID registration nodes for the OptiX product family and has no sample runtime objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe honestly — it is a naming-hierarchy module. Real fault, performance, and configuration monitoring of OptiX equipment is performed through Huawei's separate OptiX equipment/alarm/performance MIBs that register under this root.
