Category: Out-of-Band Management

Description: Defines OID registrations for Opengear hardware product families and appliance model identifiers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is OG-PRODUCTS-MIB?

OG-PRODUCTS-MIB is an Opengear-specific registration module that defines the OID tree of product identifiers for Opengear's console-server/remote-management appliance families, such as the CM4001, CM4002, CM4008, CM41xx, CM71xx, and SD4001 model lines. It contains only object identifiers used as sysObjectID values to distinguish which specific Opengear hardware model an SNMP agent is running on; it does not itself define any runtime data tables, counters, or status objects. As a pure product-identification/registration module, it is not directly used to monitor hardware or software status — a management station instead reads a device's sysObjectID (from the standard SNMPv2-MIB) and looks it up against this module's registrations to determine the exact Opengear model, after which the device's other MIBs (like OG-PATTERN-MIB) supply actual status data. It depends on the standard SNMPv2-MIB/SNMPv2-SMI framework for the sysObjectID mechanism it supports, and on Opengear's broader enterprise MIB tree for context. It is used across the full range of Opengear console-server and remote-management appliance hardware purely for model identification. Engineers can download the OG-PRODUCTS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OG-PRODUCTS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Opengear console server/remote management appliances (CM4001, CM4002, CM4008, CM41xx, CM71xx, SD4001 model lines)

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only product-identity OIDs (e.g., ogCM4001, ogCM4008, ogCM71xx) with no associated data tables, so there is no runtime monitoring scenario to describe honestly; a management station would instead read a device's sysObjectID and match it against these registrations purely to identify which Opengear model is being managed. Actual operational monitoring of that device would rely on other Opengear MIBs such as OG-PATTERN-MIB.
