Description: Manages Nortel Magellan Passport ISDN NIS Canadian national signaling protocol configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Nortel-Magellan-Passport-DisdnNISMIB?

This is a Nortel Magellan Passport MIB module managing the Canadian National ISDN Supplement (NIS) signaling protocol configuration on Passport wide-area switching platforms. It exposes configuration and status data for ISDN data signaling channels, including row-status provisioning tables, Layer 2 (LAPD) framer parameters, and signaling timers/counters such as T200, T23, and N200 retransmission settings. As a signaling-layer management MIB it is used mainly to monitor and configure protocol state — row status of signaling channel entries and Layer 2 framer configuration — rather than physical sensors, though anomalies in these parameters directly reflect ISDN link health. It is part of the broader Nortel Magellan Passport enterprise MIB family and depends on Passport's proprietary component-naming and row-status conventions shared across its other signaling MIBs. It is deployed on legacy Nortel Magellan Passport WAN switches carrying Canadian NIS ISDN signaling channels. Engineers can download the Nortel-Magellan-Passport-DisdnNISMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-Magellan-Passport-DisdnNISMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel Magellan Passport WAN switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll dataSigChanNisRowStatusTable/dataSigChanNisRowStatusEntry (indexed by dataSigChanNisIndex) to confirm a given signaling channel's dataSigChanNisRowStatus is active rather than stuck in a notReady state. The dataSigChanNisL2Table exposes Layer 2 timer objects such as dataSigChanNisT23 and dataSigChanNisT200; an unexpectedly high count of T200 retransmission timeouts would indicate an unstable or noisy ISDN signaling link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • signaling channel row status
  • Layer 2 (LAPD) framer configuration
  • T200/T23 timer values
  • N200 retransmission count
