Category: Hardware Inventory

Description: Provides NMS Communications Hardware Abstraction Layer global configuration and platform capability objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is NMS-HAL-GLOBAL-MIB?

NMS-HAL-GLOBAL-MIB is a private MIB (NMS-SMI enterprise family) holding hardware-abstraction-layer global switch settings. Its objects cover the EAPS (Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching) port link-status scan interval, system MTU, load-sharing enable and balance method, error-frame threshold/period for link-quality detection, and priority weightings for ARP, BGP, BPDU, and DHCP control-plane traffic. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm the EAPS scan interval and control-plane priority weightings match the intended resiliency and QoS design. It is deployed on switches (NMS SMI platform family) using EAPS ring resiliency. Engineers can download the NMS-HAL-GLOBAL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NMS-HAL-GLOBAL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • nms Co., Ltd. switch (hardware-abstraction-layer global settings, vendor unidentified)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks eapsLinkScanInterval to confirm how quickly an EAPS ring will detect a link failure, balancing faster detection against additional CPU polling overhead.

What Can Be Monitored

  • EAPS scan interval
  • control-plane traffic priority weightings
