Description: Manages time-based schedule objects used by firewall policies and VPN rules on Juniper NetScreen devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NETSCREEN-SCHEDULE-MIB?
NETSCREEN-SCHEDULE-MIB is a Juniper NetScreen private MIB (from the NetScreen firewall/VPN line later absorbed into Juniper ScreenOS) that manages time-based schedule objects used by firewall policies and VPN rules to activate or deactivate at specific times. It exposes configuration data describing one-time schedules (name, start time, stop time, comments) and recurring schedules, each optionally scoped to a virtual system (vsys) in a multi-tenant firewall deployment. Rather than hardware health, this is a configuration/software-state MIB: it lets an administrator confirm which named schedules exist, their active windows, and which virtual system they belong to, essential for auditing why a firewall policy is or isn't currently in effect. It sits within the broader NetScreen/ScreenOS private MIB tree alongside firewall-policy MIBs, since schedules are referenced by policy objects elsewhere. It is deployed on Juniper NetScreen (ScreenOS) firewalls/VPN gateways in enterprise perimeter security deployments, especially those using virtual systems. Engineers can download the NETSCREEN-SCHEDULE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NETSCREEN-SCHEDULE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Juniper NetScreen (ScreenOS) firewall/VPN gateway
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the nsSchOnceTable/nsSchOnceEntry rows, indexed by nsSchOnceIndex, to check nsSchOnceName against nsSchOnceStartTime and nsSchOnceStopTime, confirming whether a maintenance-window firewall rule is currently active. Similarly, the nsSchRecurTable/nsSchRecurEntry rows (indexed by nsSchRecurIndex, named via nsSchRecurName) let the admin verify a recurring schedule, such as a nightly VPN policy window, is correctly defined. If nsSchOnceVsys shows a schedule scoped to the wrong virtual system, that would explain a firewall policy unexpectedly failing to activate for a particular tenant.
What Can Be Monitored
- one-time schedule name/start/stop time
- recurring schedule name
- schedule virtual system (vsys) scope
