What Is NETI-TRUNK-MIB?

NETI-TRUNK-MIB is a Net Insight vendor MIB for managing DTM network trunk links that carry Dynamic synchronous Transfer Mode traffic between Nimbra network nodes. It focuses on the DPP-IP group, which encapsulates DTM traffic over IP/Ethernet, exposing configuration objects like peer addressing and capacity allocation alongside operational status. It supports monitoring of hardware/link status and performance by exposing trunk member link identity, IP addressing details, and transmit capacity usage, letting operators detect trunk misconfiguration or capacity exhaustion. As a DPP-IP-specific extension, it depends on the broader Net Insight trunk/DTM network model and related Nimbra platform MIBs for full topology context. It is deployed in Nimbra-based media transport networks where DTM trunks are carried over conventional IP/Ethernet infrastructure between sites. Engineers can download the NETI-TRUNK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NETI-TRUNK-MIB. Monitoring Examples

An operator would walk dppipTable/dppipEntry to list configured DPP-IP trunks, checking dppipAddress, dppipPeerAddress, and dppipDefaultGateway for correct IP-layer connectivity between trunk endpoints. Polling dppipTxUsedCapacity against the trunk's total slot count from dppipTxSlots reveals how close a trunk is to capacity saturation, which would explain packet loss or blocked new service allocations. A change in dppipLastChange combined with an unexpected dppipNetMask value would suggest a recent, possibly erroneous, network reconfiguration.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using dppipReceivedFrames OID:

Select a Net Insight Nimbra media transport node (DTM trunk links over IP) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type dppipReceivedFrames into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The total number of DPP-IP frames that have been received. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
