What Is NETBOTZ-SNMP-MIB?
NETBOTZ-SNMP-MIB is a configuration-oriented MIB for NetBotz environmental monitoring appliances (now part of Schneider Electric/APC), used to manage the device's own SNMP agent behavior. It exposes settings such as trap-destination targets, community strings, timeout/retry counts, and multiple sets of userid/password credentials rather than live sensor readings. Because it governs SNMP itself, its main hardware/software status monitoring role is confirming the device's trap notification pipeline is correctly configured so hardware and environmental alerts from companion NetBotz MIBs actually reach the NMS. It typically depends on the core NetBotz/BotzWare device MIBs that carry the actual environmental sensor and alarm data. It is deployed alongside NetBotz appliance rack monitoring units in data centers to ensure SNMP-based alerting is properly wired up. Engineers can download the NETBOTZ-SNMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NETBOTZ-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured SNMP trap targets
- SNMP community string
- SNMP timeout and retry settings
- configured trap-target credentials
Supported Devices
- NetBotz environmental monitoring appliance
- Schneider Electric/APC rack monitor
Monitoring Examples
An admin would check netBotz-snmp-traptarget and netBotz-snmp-traptarget2 to confirm two redundant trap receivers are configured, and netBotz-snmp-community to verify the correct community string is set for those receivers. If netBotz-snmp-retries or netBotz-snmp-timeout are misconfigured, traps generated by sensor threshold violations elsewhere on the device may never be delivered. The netBotz-userid-1/password-1 through userid-3/password-3 objects represent per-slot or per-target authentication credentials used for secured trap delivery.
