Description: Manages D-Link switch ARP table entries, aging, and proxy ARP configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MY-ARP-MIB?
MY-ARP-MIB is a private D-Link MIB for managing the switch's ARP table, entry aging behavior, and proxy ARP configuration. The sample objects available for this module are limited to its top-level conformance/structure nodes (objects, conformance, compliances, groups), so the concrete ARP table and aging/proxy-ARP leaf objects sit further down the tree but were not captured in the provided sample. An ARP MIB's core monitoring value is in address-resolution health: a stale, overflowing, or rapidly-changing ARP table can indicate an IP conflict, a failing uplink, or a network scan, while proxy ARP status is a configuration-correctness check for routed subnets. It conceptually complements the standard IP-MIB/RFC 1213 ipNetToMediaTable but is implemented as a D-Link private extension adding extra configuration knobs (aging interval, proxy ARP) not present in the standard MIB. It is deployed on D-Link managed switches in small/medium business and enterprise LANs. Engineers can download the MY-ARP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MY-ARP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- D-Link managed switches
Monitoring Examples
Only the top-level conformance-tree object names (myArpMIBObjects, myArpMIBConformance, myArpMIBCompliances, myArpMIBGroups) were available in the provided sample, so no concrete ARP table field names can be cited honestly; based on the description, the underlying tree would let an admin watch ARP table size and aging behavior for entries flapping abnormally, which would suggest an IP conflict or spoofing attempt.
What Can Be Monitored
- ARP table entries
- ARP entry aging timer
- proxy ARP enable status
