What Is MY-ADDRESS-MIB?

MY-ADDRESS-MIB is a D-Link enterprise MIB (its 'my' naming reflects an internal D-Link codebase prefix) that manages IP and MAC address assignment on the switch, tracking counts of dynamic, static, and filtered addresses and maintaining a MAC address forwarding table. It exposes both summary counters -- how many addresses are currently dynamic, static, filtered, or still available -- and a detailed per-entry MAC address table with port, FDB (forwarding database) identifier, type, and status fields, plus a notification-enable flag for MAC address change events. Its primary monitoring role is tracking address-table capacity and MAC learning/aging health: whether the switch's address table is nearing capacity, whether specific MACs are bound to expected ports, and whether address-change notifications (a software/event feature) are enabled, rather than classical CPU/temperature hardware sensors. It has no significant dependency on external MIBs beyond standard SNMP conventions, functioning as a self-contained enterprise address-management extension. It is deployed on D-Link managed switches where administrators need visibility into MAC/IP address table utilization and per-port address bindings, and a MY-ADDRESS-MIB download is typically the first step toward loading its object definitions into a MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll myDynamicAddressCurrentNum, myStaticAddressCurrentNum, and myAddressAvailableNum together to see whether the switch's address table is approaching its capacity limit, which would explain intermittent MAC learning failures. Walking myMacAddressTable entries -- myMacAddress, myMacAddressPort, and myMacAddressStatus -- lets an operator confirm a specific device's MAC is bound to the expected switch port; an unexpected port binding or a 'filtered' status would indicate a misconfigured port security rule or an unauthorized device.
