myIfMacAddrLearntEnable

Module: MY-ADDRESS-MIB

OID (symbolic): MY-ADDRESS-MIB::myIfMacAddrLearntEnable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.10.97.2.22.1.2.6.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: EnabledStatus

Access: read-write

Description: Indicates whether this interface is enabled to send MacChangedNotification when it learns a new MAC address. This variable has no effect when the value of myMacNotiGlobalEnabled object is disabled(2).

Setting this object to enabled(1) enables the sending of MacChangedNotification when this interface learns a new MAC address.

Setting this object to disabled(2) disables the sending of MacChangedNotification when this interface learns a new MAC address.

What is myIfMacAddrLearntEnable?

This read-write EnabledStatus controls, per interface, whether the device sends a MacChangedNotification when that interface learns a new MAC address; it has no effect if myMacNotiGlobalEnabled is disabled. An admin enables this selectively on ports where new-device visibility matters, such as user-facing access ports, while leaving it off on stable uplink trunks to reduce notification noise. For example, setting myIfMacAddrLearntEnable to enabled(1) on a guest-access port lets security monitoring see every new device that connects there.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.10.97.2.22.1.2.6.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> MY-ADDRESS-MIB::myIfMacAddrLearntEnable

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.10.97.2.22.1.2.6.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> MY-ADDRESS-MIB::myIfMacAddrLearntEnable.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.10.97.2.22.1.2.6.1.2.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> myIfMacAddrLearntEnable.1
