newRoot
Module: MRVINREACH
OID (symbolic): MRVINREACH::newRoot
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.0.1
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description:
The newRoot trap indicates that the sending agent has become the new root of the Spanning Tree; the trap is sent by a bridge soon after its election as the new root, e.g., upon expiration of the Topology Change Timer immediately subsequent to its election. Implementation of this trap is optional.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' MRVINREACH::newRoot snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.0.1
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
