Description: Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch MIB providing Digital Diagnostics Monitoring Interface (DDMI) data for SFP/SFP+ optical transceivers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ME1200-DDMI-MIB?
This is a Cisco private (enterprise) MIB module for the ME1200 Metro Ethernet access device, providing Digital Diagnostics Monitoring Interface (DDMI) data for pluggable SFP/SFP+ optical transceivers. It exposes per-interface optical transceiver inventory and diagnostic data such as vendor name, part number, serial number, revision, date code, and SFP type, sourced from the transceiver's internal DDM EEPROM. It is used specifically to monitor the hardware health and identity of optical transceivers plugged into switch ports, letting an operator confirm whether DDM diagnostics are supported and whether an SFP is detected and genuine before troubleshooting a fiber link. Because it mirrors the industry-standard SFF-8472 DDM data model, it complements standard interface MIBs like IF-MIB and Cisco's entity MIBs for the same physical ports. It is deployed on Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switches in service-provider or Metro Ethernet aggregation networks where visibility into optical transceiver health and provenance is required. Engineers can download the ME1200-DDMI-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ME1200-DDMI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll me1200DdmiStatusInterfaceTable / me1200DdmiStatusInterfaceEntry indexed by me1200DdmiStatusInterfaceIfIndex to check me1200DdmiStatusInterfaceA0SfpDetected and A0Supported, confirming whether a transceiver is present and DDM-capable on a given port. Reading A0Vendor, A0PartNumber, A0SerialNumber, and A0DateCode helps verify that only approved/genuine SFPs are installed, flagging counterfeit or unsupported optics. me1200DdmiConfigGlobalsMode indicates whether DDMI monitoring is globally enabled on the switch.
What Can Be Monitored
- SFP detection status
- DDM support per port
- transceiver vendor/part number
- transceiver serial number
- transceiver date code/revision
- SFP type
