What Is MBG-SNMP-ROOT-MIB?

MBG-SNMP-ROOT-MIB is a Meinberg Radio Clocks module that defines the root of Meinberg's private enterprise OID hierarchy, under which all other Meinberg SNMP MIB modules (covering NTP/GPS time-server hardware) register their object trees. It is a purely definitional/registration module, establishing OID branch points rather than exposing any operational data itself. It contains no monitorable objects for hardware/software status — no uptime, temperature, GPS lock state, or fan/power data — since that detail lives in the device-specific Meinberg MIBs built beneath this root. Administrators typically keep this module handy only as an MBG-SNMP-ROOT-MIB reference point when navigating the OID hierarchy of the device-specific Meinberg modules, since every other Meinberg MIB depends on this module for its place in the OID tree, making it a structural dependency rather than an optional one. It is present wherever Meinberg precision time servers and clocks are deployed and managed via SNMP, such as in data centers and telecom facilities needing synchronized time.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MBG-SNMP-ROOT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Meinberg precision time server/clock (any generation, enterprise OID root)

Monitoring Examples

This module only defines the root OID branch for Meinberg's MIB tree — it carries no monitorable data objects itself, so there is no realistic monitoring scenario to describe directly; actual clock status is exposed by the device-specific Meinberg MIBs registered beneath this root.
