Description: Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 2500 color printer SNMP MIB defining objects for color toner cartridges, paper trays, and print status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LJ2500-MIB?

LJ2500-MIB is a Hewlett-Packard vendor-specific SNMP module for the HP LaserJet 2500 color laser printer, exposing HP's proprietary Printer Management Language (PML)-derived objects for device control and diagnostics alongside standard printer status. It covers device self-test and diagnostic controls (self-test, print-internal-page, perm-store-init-occurred), localization capabilities (supported languages/countries), control panel interaction counters (button press, display contents change counter/CRC/graphical contents), and power-management state (energy-star, sleep-mode, on-off-line). It strongly supports monitoring hardware and software status: control panel activity counters and change-counter/CRC values let an NMS detect unexpected physical interaction or a stuck display, while sleep-mode/on-off-line/energy-star report the printer's current power and readiness state, useful for spotting a printer that has gone offline or is stuck in an unexpected power state. This MIB's object naming under netPMLmgmt indicates a direct dependency on HP's proprietary PML management framework rather than pure IETF Printer-MIB conventions, though it complements the standard Printer-MIB. It is typically deployed in office environments for centralized fleet monitoring of HP color LaserJet printers, via HP Web Jetadmin or similar print management tools that rely on LJ2500-MIB SNMP monitoring for centralized fleet visibility.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LJ2500-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP LaserJet 2500 color laser printer

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls on-off-line and sleep-mode to determine whether the LaserJet 2500 is ready to print or has entered a power-save state unexpectedly during business hours. control-panel-display-contents-change-counter and control-panel-display-contents-crc are checked to detect unusual control-panel activity, such as an error message being displayed that a technician hasn't yet cleared. self-test and print-internal-page can be triggered remotely to run diagnostics or print a configuration page when troubleshooting a reported color print quality issue. energy-star state reporting confirms whether power-saving compliance settings are active as configured.

What Can Be Monitored

  • online/offline state
  • sleep/power-save mode
  • control panel display activity
  • self-test/diagnostic status
  • energy-star compliance state
