Category: Domain: Storage, Vendor: EMC
Description: Kashya (acquired by EMC) MIB for managing and monitoring storage replication appliance status and replication session health.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is KASHYA-MIB?
KASHYA-MIB is a private MIB from Kashya Inc., a storage replication technology company acquired by EMC in 2006 whose technology became the basis for EMC (now Dell EMC) RecoverPoint continuous data protection and replication appliances. Based on its stated purpose, it exposes management and status data for the replication appliance itself and for individual replication sessions between protected storage volumes. It is intended to monitor the hardware and software status of the replication appliance, such as overall appliance health and the state/progress of active replication sessions, which is critical for confirming that disaster-recovery replication is keeping pace and not falling behind or failing. As a Kashya-specific private MIB it has no notable dependency on other standard MIBs beyond base SNMP conventions. It's typically deployed on Kashya/EMC RecoverPoint replication appliances protecting SAN-attached storage in disaster-recovery and continuous-data-protection deployments. Engineers can download the KASHYA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in KASHYA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Kashya/EMC RecoverPoint replication appliance
Monitoring Examples
No object or table names are included in this excerpt, so specifics cannot be confirmed, but consistent with its stated purpose an administrator would be expected to poll appliance health/status and per-session replication state objects. A replication session reporting a degraded or stopped state, or growing replication lag, would indicate the DR target is falling out of sync with the protected storage.
What Can Be Monitored
- appliance health status
- replication session state
- replication lag/progress
