Description: Juniper Networks conformance statements for traceroute (path discovery) test management on Juniper E-series edge routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Juniper-Trace-Route-CONF?
This is a Juniper Networks AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module that documents which objects and features of the traceroute (path discovery) MIB are implemented by the SNMP agent on Juniper E-series edge routers. It does not define any runtime data objects itself; instead it is a compliance/implementation statement used by management applications to determine agent support. As such it has no bearing on hardware or software status monitoring directly, but it governs whether traceroute-test objects (start/stop, hop results) can be relied upon when polling the device. It depends entirely on the companion Trace Route MIB (and underlying SNMPv2 conformance framework) that it describes conformance for. It is typically consulted by NMS platforms during capability negotiation or documentation rather than polled at runtime. Engineers can download the Juniper-Trace-Route-CONF file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-Trace-Route-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Juniper E-series (ERX) edge routers
Monitoring Examples
As an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module, it contains no runtime data objects (tables, counters, or scalars) to poll; it only lists which groups and objects of the associated Trace Route MIB are supported on Juniper E-series agents. Network management tools would read this module offline to determine, for example, whether hop-by-hop latency results or multiple concurrent traceroute tests are supported before attempting to use those features. There is no monitoring scenario to describe honestly, since it carries no operational instrumentation.
