Description: Juniper Networks conformance statements for SONET/SDH interface management on Juniper E-series edge routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-SONET-CONF?

Juniper-SONET-CONF is a Juniper Networks conformance/agent-capabilities MIB documenting which parts of the SNMP agent's SONET/SDH interface support are implemented on Juniper E-series edge routers. It does not define new managed objects for polling; instead it declares AGENT-CAPABILITIES groups, juniSonetBasicAgent and juniSonetVTAgent, describing support for basic SONET/SDH interface objects and Virtual Tributary (VT) level objects respectively. As a conformance module it has no runtime data of its own to expose for hardware/software status monitoring; its role is purely to state agent capability compliance. It depends directly on the IETF SONET-MIB, since its capability groups reference that MIB's object groups. It is used during network management tool integration/compliance checking on Juniper E-series routers equipped with SONET/SDH interfaces, not for day-to-day operational polling. Engineers can download the Juniper-SONET-CONF file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-SONET-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper E-series routers (SONET/SDH interface modules)

Monitoring Examples

This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module rather than one exposing runtime data objects; juniSonetBasicAgent and juniSonetVTAgent simply declare which standard SONET-MIB object groups (basic and VT-level) the Juniper agent implements, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe.
