What Is JUNIPER-WX-STATUS-MIB?
JUNIPER-WX-STATUS-MIB is a Juniper Networks-specific MIB for the WX series of WAN optimization/application acceleration appliances, exposing operational status and system information for these devices. It covers system identification (model, hardware and software version), counts and details of monitored/accelerated applications, and status of remote WX peer appliances participating in optimization tunnels. It is explicitly used to monitor hardware and software status: jnxWxGrpStatusSysHwVersion reports the hardware revision, jnxWxGrpStatusSysSwVersion reports the running software build, and the application and remote-WX tables reveal whether accelerated applications and paired remote appliances remain active and reachable. As a Juniper enterprise MIB it stands alone but is commonly polled alongside standard IF-MIB and SNMPv2-MIB objects for complete device visibility. It is typically deployed in WAN optimization environments where paired WX appliances sit at branch and data-center sites to accelerate application traffic. Engineers can download the JUNIPER-WX-STATUS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in JUNIPER-WX-STATUS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- system hardware/software version
- monitored/accelerated application count
- per-application status
- remote WX peer visibility and count
Supported Devices
- Juniper Networks WX series WAN optimization appliances
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls jnxWxGrpStatusSysSwVersion and jnxWxGrpStatusSysHwVersion across a fleet to confirm all WX appliances are on matching firmware after an upgrade, flagging any unit still on an old build. Walking jnxWxGrpStatusAppTable/jnxWxGrpStatusAppEntry (keyed by jnxWxGrpStatusAppId and jnxWxGrpStatusAppName) against the expected jnxWxGrpStatusAppMonCount shows whether a monitored application definition has been dropped or misconfigured. The jnxWxGrpStatusRemoteWxTable lets an operator confirm all expected remote WX peers remain visible, revealing a lost WAN optimization tunnel if an entry unexpectedly disappears.
