What Is JUNIPER-MIB?

JUNIPER-MIB is Juniper Networks' top-level enterprise MIB module, providing the base framework for hardware chassis information, system inventory, and device identification across Junos OS-based routers and switches. It belongs to the enterprise networking/routing-and-switching technology area. It exposes general categories of data including chassis/hardware inventory, system identification, and the OID registration structure under which Juniper's many device-specific and feature-specific MIBs (interfaces, environment, performance, alarms) are organized. As a foundational module it supports monitoring of hardware status such as chassis component identity and inventory, complementing dependent Juniper MIBs that expose temperature, CPU/memory load, power supply, and fan health in detail. Loading JUNIPER-MIB into a juniper mib browser mainly surfaces this enterprise OID tree and chassis registration structure, since the module itself defines little pollable data beyond that framework. It depends on and interoperates with the standard RFC 2737 ENTITY-MIB and numerous Juniper-specific extension MIBs layered on this enterprise tree. It is deployed in service-provider and enterprise networks running Juniper routers, switches, and security appliances (Junos OS).

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in JUNIPER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
