Category: Alarm and Event Management, Technology: Logging/Syslog, Vendor: iTouch

Description: iTouch event MIB providing SNMP objects for event logging, alert configuration, and trap generation on iTouch devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ITOUCH-EVENT-MIB?

ITOUCH-EVENT-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from iTouch Communications (importing DateTime and the iTouch enterprise root from ITOUCH-MIB) that models an on-device event log for iTouch network equipment. It defines a configurable circular event table (eventTableSize, 20-800 entries) with a global severity filter (eventSeverity: discard/low/medium/high), an eventGroupTable that enables or disables logging per functional area via the EventGroup enumeration (covering protocols and subsystems like IP, IPX, OSPF, ISIS, Spanning Tree, chassis, and hub management), and an eventTextTable holding the actual logged messages with their timestamp (eventTextDateTime) and severity (eventTextSeverity). Administrative objects such as eventClearLog, eventEnableAll, and eventDisableAll let a manager bulk-clear the log or toggle all event groups at once. Because this is purely an event/alerting MIB rather than a traffic-counter MIB, its monitoring value is in surfacing recent operational events recorded on the device without requiring syslog or console access, making it useful for centralized fault detection on iTouch chassis and switching products. Engineers evaluating this module for their monitoring stack often reference the ITOUCH-EVENT-MIB MIB when integrating iTouch event polling into an SNMP manager.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ITOUCH-EVENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • iTouch Communications network/chassis devices

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls eventTextTable to read recent eventTextText entries and their eventTextSeverity; a sudden run of high-severity entries tied to the spanningTree or link EventGroup would indicate a topology flap or port failure that needs follow-up.

What Can Be Monitored

  • event table size and circular-buffer fill state
  • global event severity filter
  • per-event-group enable/disable state
  • logged event text, timestamp, and severity
  • bulk clear-log and enable/disable-all actions
