etherTxSingleCollisionFrames

Module: ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB

OID (symbolic): ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB::etherTxSingleCollisionFrames

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: A count of successfully transmitted frames on a particular interface for which transmission is inhibited by exactly one collision. A frame that is counted by an instance of this object is also counted by the corresponding instance of either the ifOutUcastPkts or ifOutNUcastPkts object and is not counted by the corresponding instance of the etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames object.

What is etherTxSingleCollisionFrames?

This is a running count of frames successfully transmitted on an interface after experiencing exactly one collision. Admins monitor this on half-duplex Ethernet segments to gauge how much contention exists on the shared medium, since some single collisions are normal but excessive counts indicate congestion. A rapidly increasing etherTxSingleCollisionFrames count on a half-duplex hub-connected port suggests the segment is getting congested and could benefit from switching to full duplex or a switch port.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.2.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB::etherTxSingleCollisionFrames

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.2.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB::etherTxSingleCollisionFrames.1
