etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames

Module: ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB

OID (symbolic): ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB::etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.2.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: A count of successfully transmitted frames on a particular interface for which transmission is inhibited by more than one collision. A frame that is counted by an instance of this object is also counted by the corresponding instance of either the ifOutUcastPkts or ifOutNUcastPkts object and is not counted by the corresponding instance of the etherTxSingleCollisionFrames object.

What is etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames?

This is a running count of frames successfully transmitted on an interface after experiencing more than one collision. Admins treat a high multiple-collision count as a stronger sign of network congestion or a duplex mismatch than single collisions, since it takes more retries to get the frame through. If etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames climbs much faster than etherTxSingleCollisionFrames, the admin should suspect a duplex mismatch or overloaded shared segment on that interface.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.2.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB::etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.2.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB::etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames.1
