This is a running count of bytes transmitted on an interface in frames whose destination address had the multicast bit set. Admins use it to see how much outbound traffic from this interface is multicast, helping identify sources of multicast load on the network. If a particular interface shows unusually high etherMulticastBytesOut, the admin might investigate what device or application on that segment is generating so much multicast traffic.
