Module: ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB
OID (symbolic): ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB::etherFCSErrors
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.1.1.3
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Counter
Access: read-only
Description: A count of frames received on a particular interface that are an integral number of octets in length that do not pass the FCS check.
What is etherFCSErrors?
This is a running count of received frames on an interface that are a whole number of octets in length but still fail the frame check sequence, or CRC, check. Admins use it to detect data corruption on the wire, distinct from alignment errors, often pointing to electrical noise, a bad cable, or a duplex mismatch. A sudden rise in etherFCSErrors after a cable change would suggest the new cable or connector is introducing signal corruption.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.1.1.3 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB::etherFCSErrors
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.1.1.3.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ITOUCH-ETHERNET-MIB::etherFCSErrors.1
SNMPv3 example:
snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> etherFCSErrors.1
