Category: Textual Conventions and Registries, Vendor: Cisco
Description: Cisco IronPort structure of management information MIB defining the enterprise OID hierarchy for IronPort email and web security appliances.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is IRONPORT-SMI?
IRONPORT-SMI is an IronPort Systems (enterprise OID 15497, later Cisco email/web security appliance line) proprietary root MIB module with no data objects defined in this iteration, reserving the enterprise OID branch under which companion IronPort product MIBs register their objects. As a structural placeholder MIB it exists so IronPort's email/web-security appliance MIBs share a consistent OID branch. It underlies IronPort Systems (Cisco) email/web security appliances. Engineers can download the IRONPORT-SMI file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IRONPORT-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- IronPort Systems (Cisco) email/web security appliances
Monitoring Examples
A MIB browser loads IRONPORT-SMI automatically when parsing a companion IronPort product MIB, resolving the OID branch those modules' objects are registered under.
