Category: Standard: IETF, Technology: NetFlow, Technology: Traffic Monitoring

Description: IETF IPFIX exporter MIB (RFC 5101 related) providing SNMP objects for managing the IPFIX flow export process and transport.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IPFIX-EXPORTER-MIB?

IPFIX-EXPORTER-MIB is the standard IETF IPFIX (IP Flow Information Export) Working Group MIB configuring and monitoring flow-export on IPFIX-capable devices. Its collector table records destination IP address type/address/protocol/port and reports sent count, a collector-group table groups collectors, a template table records template/field ID and field length, an observation-domain table tracks per-domain IDs, and an instance table records observation point and start/stop time. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm which collector a flow-export instance is sending to and how many reports have been sent. It is deployed on routers/switches/probes implementing IPFIX flow export. Engineers can download the IPFIX-EXPORTER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IPFIX-EXPORTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Routers/switches/probes implementing IPFIX flow export

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks ipfixCollectorReportsSent to confirm flow records are actively being exported to the configured IPFIX collector.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IPFIX collector configuration and export activity

RFC description

Defined in RFC 8038, this MIB specifies managed objects for IP Flow Information Export (IPFIX) protocol operations, enabling export of MIB variables and correlation of SNMP and IPFIX data.

Start monitoring Vendor-neutral IETF standard (routers/switches/probes implementing IPFIX flow export) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
