Category: Standard: IETF, Technology: NetFlow, Technology: Traffic Monitoring

Description: IETF IPFIX collector MIB providing SNMP objects for managing IP Flow Information Export (IPFIX) data collection processes.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IPFIX-COLLECTOR-MIB?

IPFIX-COLLECTOR-MIB is an IETF IPFIX Working Group standard MIB managing objects maintained by the collecting process in a traffic collector or IPFIX concentrator — exporter profile data and received templates. Its exporter table, keyed by index, records IP address type/address and template lifetime, a session table records session ID/status/protocol/destination and source port, a session-stats table records packets/bytes/messages/discarded-messages and elapsed time, and an observation-domain-stats table records domain ID, messages, and flows. As a status/performance MIB it lets an administrator confirm which IPFIX exporters are sending data and watch per-session message/flow volume on an IPFIX collector. It is deployed on IPFIX collector/concentrator equipment. Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the IPFIX-COLLECTOR-MIB RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IPFIX-COLLECTOR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • IPFIX collector/concentrator equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks ipfixSessionStatsTable and ipfixExporterIpAddress to confirm which IPFIX exporter is sending flow data and how much volume it generates on an IPFIX collector.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IPFIX exporter session status and flow/message volume
