What Is INTEL-NIC-MIB?

This is Intel Corporation's proprietary MIB for monitoring Intel-branded network interface cards (NICs) and their driver software, built on Intel's DMTF-aligned component-management framework. It exposes hardware identification data for NIC components (manufacturer, product, version, serial number) as well as driver-level operational state for the network adapter. It is used to monitor both hardware and software status—confirming a NIC's installation and self-verification results, and tracking the driver's runtime state to detect a card or driver that has failed or gone offline. It builds on DMTF standard MIF/OID conventions (dmtfStdMifs, dmtfDynOids) for its component-identification model. It is typically deployed alongside Intel server/adapter management agents in data centers as part of broader server hardware health monitoring, where INTEL-NIC-MIB SNMP monitoring tracks NIC installation status and driver-level health.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in INTEL-NIC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

Polling intelComponentIDTable/intelComponentIDEntry returns manufacturerAtt1, productAtt2, versionAtt3, and serialNumberAtt4 for each installed Intel NIC, and installationAtt5/verifyAtt6 confirm whether the card passed installation and self-test. Separately, intelNetworkAdapterDriverTable exposes intelNetworkAdapterDriverState per driverIndexAtt1, so a sudden change to an error or not-loaded state would flag a driver or NIC hardware failure. This inventory-plus-driver-health pattern is typical for tracking Intel adapter reliability.
