Description: IEC-62439-2-MIB module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is IEC-62439-2-MIB?
IEC-62439-2-MIB is a stub MIB module representing the IEC 62439-2 standard, which defines Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) for industrial Ethernet networks requiring high-availability ring topologies. As a stub, it currently contains little beyond a placeholder MRP domain index object (iec624392) rather than a full implementation of MRP status, configuration, or ring-state objects. In its intended (non-stub) form, an MRP MIB would be used to monitor the software/network status of a redundant ring, its state (open/closed), manager/client role, and failover events on the ring, a fault/topology-health category of data rather than physical hardware sensors. It is explicitly tied to and dependent on the IEC 62439-2 standard itself, and would typically parallel or feed into a device's broader Ethernet ring redundancy status. It would be deployed on industrial Ethernet switches/devices participating in an MRP ring, common in factory automation and industrial control network topologies, though as a stub, this particular module is not yet functional for that purpose, and the IEC-62439-2-MIB reference remains useful chiefly for understanding the intended object structure.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IEC-62439-2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB (IEC 62439-2 MRP)
- industrial Ethernet switches/devices in redundant ring topologies
Monitoring Examples
This module is a stub containing only the placeholder iec624392 (MRP domain index) object and no functioning tables or status objects, so no real monitoring scenario can be honestly described from its current content; a complete implementation would be needed to expose actual MRP ring state and redundancy status.
