Description: IBM Director MIB defining alert and event notifications forwarded from IBM systems through the IBM Director management framework.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IBM-Director-Alert-MIB?

IBM-Director-Alert-MIB is an IBM proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 2) supporting the Event Action Plan Builder in IBM Director, a systems-management console. Its objects define alert-category notifications — general events, online/offline/create/change/destroy lifecycle events, process monitoring, CPU utilization, process count, drive space used/remaining/percentage, drive workload, locked memory, memory usage, privileged-time percentage, file read operations per second, UDP/IP packets sent/received per second, IP error-packet rate, and TCP connection count — each carrying an actual-value and duration. As a notification MIB it lets IBM Director forward threshold-based resource alerts (e.g., low disk space, high CPU) as SNMP traps to an external management system. It is deployed on systems managed by IBM Director. Engineers can download the IBM-Director-Alert-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IBM-Director-Alert-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Systems managed by IBM Director

Monitoring Examples

An external NMS subscribes to driveSpaceRemaining alerts forwarded by IBM Director's Event Action Plan Builder to catch a managed server running low on disk space.

What Can Be Monitored

  • resource-threshold alert notifications (CPU, memory, disk, network)
