Description: Huawei WLAN MIB for managing Network Processing Engine (NPE) related parameters and statistics in WLAN deployments.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-WLAN-NPE-MIB?
HUAWEI-WLAN-NPE-MIB is a Huawei-proprietary module for managing the Network Processing Engine (NPE), the forwarding/packet-processing hardware module within a Huawei WLAN Access Controller. It exposes NPE resource utilization statistics, per-NPE-port traffic counters, and the operational status of the NPE module itself. Its monitoring focus is squarely on hardware health: CPU/processing load on the NPE and whether the module is operationally up are direct indicators of the forwarding engine's capacity and fault state under WLAN client traffic load. It complements standard ENTITY-MIB-style hardware-module identification and sits within Huawei's broader WLAN AC/AP management MIB suite. It is typically deployed on Huawei WLAN Access Controllers whose NPE modules aggregate and forward traffic from many managed access points. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-WLAN-NPE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-WLAN-NPE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei WLAN Access Controllers with NPE modules
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll NPE CPU/processing-load objects and a per-port statistics table (an hwWlanNpeStatTable/hwWlanNpeStatEntry pattern) for traffic volume through the forwarding engine. NPE CPU load approaching saturation during peak WLAN usage warns that the controller's forwarding capacity is being exhausted before client experience degrades. An NPE module reporting a non-operational status points to a hardware fault that has taken a processing engine offline, reducing overall AC throughput.
What Can Be Monitored
- NPE CPU/processing load
- NPE module operational status
- NPE port traffic statistics
- NPE resource utilization
