What Is HUAWEI-SECURITY-DSLITE-MIB?
HUAWEI-SECURITY-DSLITE-MIB manages Dual-Stack Lite (DS-Lite) functionality on Huawei broadband edge equipment, covering the IPv4-in-IPv6 tunnels used to carry a subscriber's IPv4 traffic across an IPv6-only access network plus the associated Carrier-Grade NAT (CGN) address-sharing behind them, with the module description noting it tracks the IPv6 address of the CPE. Its data category is tunnel/CPE mapping and CGN address- or port-sharing statistics. Its monitoring value is software/configuration status at the broadband edge: confirming a subscriber's DS-Lite tunnel (identified by the CPE's IPv6 address) is active, and watching CGN address/port-pool utilization, detects tunnel failures or address-pool exhaustion that would otherwise silently prevent a subscriber from establishing new IPv4 sessions. It implements the IETF's DS-Lite architecture (RFC 6333, Dual-Stack Lite Broadband Deployments) as a Huawei-specific management extension. It is deployed on Huawei BRAS/CGN devices at an ISP's network edge to work around IPv4 address exhaustion, and administrators can download the HUAWEI-SECURITY-DSLITE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-SECURITY-DSLITE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei BRAS/CGN broadband edge devices
Monitoring Examples
No sample object names were provided for this module beyond the note that it tracks the CPE's IPv6 address. In general, an operator would poll the tunnel mapping keyed by that CPE IPv6 address alongside the associated CGN address/port-sharing statistics to confirm a given subscriber's DS-Lite tunnel remains established. A tunnel that has dropped, or a CGN address/port pool that is at or near exhaustion, would explain why that subscriber (or a group behind the same shared address) cannot open new IPv4 connections.
What Can Be Monitored
- DS-Lite tunnel status per CPE
- CPE IPv6 address mapping
- CGN address/port sharing utilization
- active tunnel/session counts
