Description: Huawei MAC binding MIB for static MAC-to-interface binding entries used in port security enforcement.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-MACBIND-MIB?
HUAWEI-MACBIND-MIB is a Huawei enterprise MIB covering MAC address binding functionality used for port security enforcement across Huawei's datacomm product line (switches and routers). It defines static MAC-to-interface binding entries that restrict which MAC addresses are permitted to communicate on a given port, a common access-layer security control. Its monitoring relevance is primarily configuration/security-state verification: an administrator can audit which MAC addresses are bound to which interfaces to confirm port security policy is correctly and consistently applied, and detect unauthorized or missing bindings that could indicate a security gap or a legitimate device being blocked. As a Huawei private MIB it typically complements the standard BRIDGE-MIB/Q-BRIDGE-MIB for general MAC/VLAN forwarding rather than replacing them. It is deployed on Huawei switches and routers across enterprise and carrier access networks where static MAC binding is used to restrict port access. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-MACBIND-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-MACBIND-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei switch
- Huawei router
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were supplied for this module; typically an administrator would poll a MAC binding table keyed by interface index and bound MAC address to confirm each port's expected device is still present, and an unexpected absence or mismatch in a binding entry would reveal a device swap or a port-security violation attempt.
