Description: Huawei BRAS multicast VLAN MIB for managing multicast VLAN replication and subscriber multicast VLAN assignment on broadband access platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-BRAS-MVLAN-MIB?

HUAWEI-BRAS-MVLAN-MIB is a Huawei enterprise MIB (registered under hwBRASMib) that models multicast VLAN configuration on Huawei Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS) platforms, where a shared multicast-carrying VLAN is mapped to per-subscriber access VLANs so that IPTV or other multicast services can be replicated efficiently to many subscriber ports. It exposes a single hwMulticastVlanTable indexed by hwMulticastVlanIfIndex, with hwMulticastInnerVlan and hwMulticastOuterVlan identifying the inner/outer 802.1Q tags used for the multicast-VLAN mapping, and hwMulticastOpType recording whether the mapping was set or removed (undo) on that interface. This gives an operator a compact way to confirm which access interfaces have multicast-VLAN replication configured and with which inner/outer VLAN tags, which is important for diagnosing IPTV channel-change or multicast delivery failures on a BRAS. It depends on Q-BRIDGE-MIB for the VlanIndex/VlanId textual conventions used to represent VLAN tags, and its MODULE-COMPLIANCE statement (hwMVlanMIBCompliance) mandates the single hwMVlanGroup of objects. It is deployed on Huawei BRAS broadband access platforms delivering multicast/IPTV services to DSL or fiber subscribers, and administrators can download the HUAWEI-BRAS-MVLAN-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-BRAS-MVLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei BRAS broadband access platforms

Monitoring Examples

An operator walks hwMulticastVlanTable to confirm hwMulticastInnerVlan and hwMulticastOuterVlan are configured on a subscriber-facing hwMulticastVlanIfIndex; an interface missing an expected multicast VLAN mapping (or showing hwMulticastOpType as undo(1) when service should be active) would explain why IPTV multicast traffic is not reaching that access line.

What Can Be Monitored

  • multicast VLAN mapping presence per access interface
  • inner (C-tag) VLAN ID
  • outer (S-tag) VLAN ID
  • set/undo operation state of the mapping
