Description: Huawei BRAS PPPoX MIB providing management objects for PPPoE and PPPoA session statistics, subscriber access, and session lifecycle management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-BRAS-PPPoX-MIB?
HUAWEI-BRAS-PPPoX-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Huawei for Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS) platforms that configures PPP/PPPoE/PPPoA session behavior for subscriber access. Its hwPppConfigTable, indexed by a virtual-template hwVtIndex, holds authentication settings (hwPppAuthMode covering pap/chap/auto/mschapv1/mschapv2, CHAP/PAP username and password), negotiation and keepalive tuning (hwPppNegTimeout, hwPppKeepInterval, hwPppKeepRetransmit), and PPPoE service-name matching objects (hwPppServiceName1 through 8, hwPppServiceNameType for exact-vs-fuzzy matching, and hwPppAcName). A companion hwPppVTBindTable, indexed by interface (hwPppVTBindIfIndex), binds a virtual-template number (hwVtNumber) to a physical/logical interface for PPPoX session origination. Because this is a subscriber-access configuration MIB, monitoring it verifies that virtual-template authentication and PPPoE service-name policy are correctly provisioned per interface, which is central to diagnosing subscriber login/authentication failures on a BRAS. Huawei BRAS operators reference the HUAWEI-BRAS-PPPoX-MIB MIB when auditing per-interface PPP authentication mode and virtual-template bindings.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-BRAS-PPPoX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei BRAS platforms
Monitoring Examples
An operator checks hwPppVTBindTable to confirm a given hwPppVTBindIfIndex is bound to the expected hwVtNumber, then cross-references hwPppConfigTable for that virtual template's hwPppAuthMode; a mismatch between the configured hwPppAuthMode and what subscriber CPE devices are attempting would explain a spike in PPPoE authentication failures on that interface.
What Can Be Monitored
- PPP authentication mode per virtual template
- PPP negotiation timeout and keepalive interval/retransmit
- PPPoE service-name matching configuration
- virtual-template-to-interface binding table
