What Is HUAWEI-8021PAE-MIB?
HUAWEI-8021PAE-MIB is a Huawei vendor-private extension of the standard IEEE8021-PAE-MIB, adding Huawei-specific 802.1X port-based network access control objects under huaweiMgmt.22. It supplements the standard PAE system timers (hwdot1xAuthQuietPeriod, hwdot1xAuthTxPeriod, hwdot1xAuthSuppTimeout, hwdot1xAuthServerTimeout, hwdot1xAuthMaxReq, hwdot1xAuthReAuthPeriod, hwdot1xAuthMethod) with a per-port hwdot1xAuthConfigExtTable, indexed via dot1xPaePortNumber, exposing hwdot1xpaeportAuthAdminStatus, hwdot1xpaeportControlledType, hwdot1xpaeportMaxUserNum and hwdot1xpaeportUserNumNow (current authenticated users), hwdot1xpaeportHandshakeStatus, and hwdot1xpaeportMcastTrigStatus for multicast-triggered authentication. Because it layers directly on top of the standard PAE authenticator state machine, monitoring it reveals whether 802.1X is administratively enabled per port and how close a port is to its maximum authenticated-user limit, which is useful for diagnosing access-denial issues on oversubscribed ports. It depends on IEEE8021-PAE-MIB for dot1xPaePortNumber and the base authenticator model, and on HUAWEI-3COM-OID-MIB for its huaweiMgmt registration; it is deployed on Huawei LAN switches running 802.1X access control, and administrators can download the HUAWEI-8021PAE-MIB file to extend their existing 802.1X monitoring with these vendor-specific counters.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-8021PAE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei LAN switches (802.1X-capable, extending IEEE8021-PAE-MIB)
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls hwdot1xAuthConfigExtTable to compare hwdot1xpaeportUserNumNow against hwdot1xpaeportMaxUserNum on an access port; a port stuck at its max user count with hwdot1xpaeportHandshakeStatus showing failures would indicate new 802.1X clients are being rejected due to the port's authenticated-user limit rather than a credentials problem.
What Can Be Monitored
- 802.1X authenticator admin status per port
- port-control mode (controlled type)
- max/current authenticated user count per port
- 802.1X handshake/keepalive status
- multicast-trigger authentication status
- per-port statistics-clear action
