Description: Monitors uninterruptible power supply (UPS) status, battery level, and alarm events on HP/Comware chassis.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HPN-ICF-UPS-MIB?
HPN-ICF-UPS-MIB is an HP/H3C Comware enterprise MIB that models an attached Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) device connected to or monitored through a Comware-based chassis. It exposes configuration and identification data for UPS units, including how many are configured, their type, and their network address, organized in a UPS configuration table. Its primary monitoring value is hardware health of power infrastructure: whether the UPS is enabled, its type/model, and its reachability via IP, which together let an operator confirm the UPS is present, correctly addressed, and available to report status or alarm conditions. It is a vendor-specific extension that complements the standard UPS-MIB (RFC 1628) rather than replacing it, and is typically used alongside general chassis health monitoring. It is deployed in data center and enterprise network environments where HP/H3C Comware switches or routers are backed by UPS units for power redundancy. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HPN-ICF-UPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-UPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP/H3C Comware switches and routers
- attached UPS units
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll hpnicfUpsConfigTable (via hpnicfUpsConfigEntry) to enumerate configured UPS devices, reading hpnicfUpsIndex, hpnicfUpsType, and hpnicfUpsIpAddress/hpnicfUpsIpAddressType to confirm each UPS is correctly registered and reachable. If hpnicfUpsConfigEnable shows a UPS is disabled or its hpnicfUpsIpAddress is unset, that flags a power-monitoring gap the admin should remediate before a power event occurs undetected. The table structure allows tracking multiple UPS units across a chassis or stack.
What Can Be Monitored
- UPS configuration enable state
- UPS index/identity
- UPS type
- UPS management IP address
- UPS IP address type
