Description: Registers product OID identifiers for HP/Comware networking device models and hardware platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HPN-ICF-PRODUCT-ID-MIB?
HPN-ICF-PRODUCT-ID-MIB is an HP Networking (Comware/H3C) vendor MIB whose sole purpose is registering the OID tree used to identify specific HP/Comware networking product families and hardware platforms, rooted under objects such as hpSystem, netElement, hpn, and split into hpnProducts, hpnSwitch, and hpnRouter subtrees. It exposes no runtime data itself; rather it provides the sysObjectID-style product-identification arcs that other MIBs and management systems reference to determine exactly which HP/H3C switch or router model is being managed. As such it has no direct role in monitoring hardware/software status, but it is foundational for any monitoring system that needs to identify device type/model before selecting the correct set of vendor MIBs to poll. It underpins and is referenced by essentially every other HPN-ICF vendor MIB module that needs to scope objects to specific product families. It applies wherever an HP/H3C Comware switch or router's sysObjectID needs to be resolved to a specific product line. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HPN-ICF-PRODUCT-ID-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-PRODUCT-ID-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP/H3C Comware switch
- HP/H3C Comware router
Monitoring Examples
This is effectively a product-identification/OID-registration module with no runtime data objects of its own (hpSystem, netElement, hpn, hpnProducts, hpnSwitch, and hpnRouter are OID-tree arcs, not instance data), so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; a management system would instead read a device's sysObjectID and match it against this tree to determine whether the device is an hpnSwitch or hpnRouter product before selecting further MIBs to poll.
