hpSwitchControlPlaneProtectionAdminStatus

Module: HP-SWITCH-BASIC-CONFIG-MIB

OID (symbolic): HP-SWITCH-BASIC-CONFIG-MIB::hpSwitchControlPlaneProtectionAdminStatus

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.7.1.29.1.17

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The operational status of the Control Plane Protection feature. When Control Plane Protection feature is enabled on a device, if the number of IP error packets exceed the threshold value they are dropped at the data plane. This eliminates the processing of error packets by control plane, thereby reducing the load on the CPU.

What is hpSwitchControlPlaneProtectionAdminStatus?

Setting this to 'enable(1)' turns on Control Plane Protection, which drops excess IP error packets at the data plane once they exceed a threshold, sparing the CPU from processing them; default is 'disable(2)'. Admins enable this on switches exposed to traffic that could otherwise flood the CPU with malformed or error packets.

Examples

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HP-SWITCH-BASIC-CONFIG-MIB::hpSwitchControlPlaneProtectionAdminStatus

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.7.1.29.1.17.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HP-SWITCH-BASIC-CONFIG-MIB::hpSwitchControlPlaneProtectionAdminStatus.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.7.1.29.1.17.1 i <value>
